Eri Uchimura

Eri Uchimura is a certified sustainability practitioner with over a decade of international experience across multilateral organizations, government, and the private sector. Specializing in responsible business conduct, ESG risk management, and development cooperation, she is passionate about bridging the Global South and Japan.
Most recently, Eri worked at The Global Fund in Geneva, where she was responsible for partnership development and project management for the Market Shaping Initiative. In this role, she collaborated with investors, suppliers, and government and private sector donors to expand local manufacturing in Africa and improve access to health products.
Prior to that, Eri represented the Government of Japan at the WTO, UNCTAD, and ITC, where she spearheaded discussions and negotiations on various issues, including trade and development, investment facilitation, and digitalization. She played a key role in securing a twofold increase in Japan’s supplemental budgets for these international organizations. Eri has also worked at the OECD on a responsible supply chain program targeting Asian countries and at the ILO, where she focused on promoting decent work in agriculture and global supply chains across all regions.
Eri began her career as an ESG analyst in London, advising multinational companies on sustainability reporting and ethical sourcing. She is well-versed in international standards such as the SDGs, UNGPs on Business and Human Rights, and the OECD Due Diligence Guidance.
Eri holds three Master’s degrees: in Responsible Management and Sustainable Economic Development (University for Peace, Costa Rica), Political Science (Ateneo de Manila University, Philippines), and Social Anthropology (SOAS, University of London, United Kingdom). She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health from Osaka Metropolitan University. She is fluent in Japanese and English and conversational in French.
